Meet Kimberly Smith: A Compassionate Mental Health Counselor Bringing Over 15 Years of Expertise. With dual licensure in Florida and Michigan, Kimberly Smith is a seasoned mental health professional dedicated to supporting individuals and families on their journey to well-being. Her diverse background spans various settings, including community health, inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse facilities, as well as corrections. Specializing in addressing a spectrum of concerns such as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addictions, trauma, and LGBT-related matters, Kimberly has honed her skills through years of hands-on experience. She earned her Bachelor's of Arts in History and Psychology from Florida State University in 2004, followed by a Master's of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy from Webster University in Jacksonville, Florida in 2011. As the Owner-Operator of Nakayama Behavioral Health Services, LLC, Kimberly has embraced the evolving landscape of mental health care by establishing a telehealth private practice. Her commitment to providing compassionate and effective counseling services reflects in her holistic approach to fostering positive change and growth in the lives of those she serves. *Please note Centene Corporation health plans are not accepted due to conflict of interest.* Nina Baker—Student PMHNP_BSN, RN, RT (R): Nina is a Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) student completing her clinical practicum under the supervision of Kimberly Smith, LMHC-QS, at Nakayama Behavioral Health. As a U.S. Army combat veteran and licensed mobile diagnostic radiographer, Nina brings analytical thinking and a comprehensive understanding of both physical and mental health to her practice. Her diverse healthcare background and real-world experiences provide a unique holistic perspective on wellness, understanding that mental and physical health are deeply interconnected. Nina believes in treating the whole person, not just their symptoms, and approaches each individual with both clinical expertise and practical wisdom. Currently completing PMHNP clinical training, Nina is passionate about providing trauma-informed care and creating authentic therapeutic relationships, particularly with individuals navigating life transitions, trauma recovery, and the unique challenges faced by various populations including children, adolescents, young adults, veterans, and individuals at all points along the health-wellness continuum.
